The Maze Runner

For my independent reading book, I read The Maze Runner by James Dashner. This book is an action sci-fi novel set in a futuristic maze somewhere in the desert. In my opinion this book was very interesting with many plot twists. All I could think while reading this was what would I be like if I were in this situation. This book made me feel grateful that I was not put in this scenario. This book is about a boy named Thomas wakes up in a rising elevator and realizes he is in a whole new world. This world also known as the glade contains livestock, gardens, housing and of course the maze. When the doors open he is greeted by many teenagers like himself but also cannot remember his past and even his own name. Soon after his arrival, Thomas is taught all about where he is, the lifestyle, and what lurks inside the maze. Thomas was the first person to break the rules and also survive a night in the maze. The maze has many unique features such as changing every night, it closes at night for you cant escape, and don't forget the blood thirsty greevers that wast you dead. As you can imagine, his presents brought up a split in the group. The first was Thomas' group which contained the people who wanted to escape the maze and the second group consisted of Gally and his followers. Thomas and his group fought the greevers to make it to the control and monitoring station of the maze. The rest is up to you to read. There were a lot of characters i liked and only one that I didn't like. My favorites were Thomas, Newt, Minho, Alby, and don't forget Chuck. The one character i didn't really like was Gally. He was a condescending and controlling guy who thought he knew everything, and he killed one of my favorite characters. The author James Dashner wrote this book in a way that really drew me in. It is hard to get me to like a book but he did a great job with the descriptions and so on. This book was written in a futuristic world after a plague. which has killed millions. I really liked this book and you all should read it.

  2. Jack, I haven't read this book before but I have seen a preview for the movie. Your introduction helped me picturing the scene again from the preview, and also brought me up the appetite of reading the book. You really did a great job on that~
